URBAN PARKS

Gray’s Station is surrounded by green space. From the mile-long bike trail, wetland basin and Coleman Bridge within Gray's Station to Pappajohn Sculpture Park to the north, peaceful urban parks are minutes away. Our wetland basin is home to hundreds of native Iowa insect and plant species and acts as a natural filtration system for our downtown water.

TRAILS ON TRAILS

The trail system is one of the area’s most popular amenities. The network of trails within Des Moines serves as a core, connecting to over 550 miles of trails throughout Central Iowa. More than 65 miles of paved and 19 miles of soft trails run through the Des Moines park system. There is something and some way for everyone - from daily commuters to mountain bikers to runners and walkers of all ages.

THE DOWNTOWN FARMER'S MARKET

Farmers markets are a summer favorite for local produce, plants & flowers and fresh-baked treats! The longstanding Downtown Des Moines Farmers Market takes place each Saturday from May through the end of October, and hosts 165-plus on-site vendors.
